We are accredited by the Emergency Care and Safety Institute as instructors for the Wilderness First Aid curriculum required by Scouting America.
While we are mostly Scouters, and mostly work with Scout units who need to have WFA-qualified personnel for high adventure treks, we are not employed by a Scout office, and you do not need to be in Scouting to attend one of our sessions. We are united by a love of the outdoors and desire for personal safety; we are happy to work with any group interested in strengthening their capabilities to enjoy nature away from the limits of urban structure.
The ECSI Wilderness First Aid curriculum is a two-day, 16-hour crash course in the most common ailments of a wilderness journey and their basic treatments. WFA does not require advanced medical knowledge or practice; our goal is to empower you to prepare yourself and other, avoid harm, and manage any emergencies that do arise until you can hand off to a medical professional.
You will learn how to recognize early symptoms, decide when to evacuate, and handle surprises. You'll also learn that knowing what could go wrong is a great tool to minimizing what would.
